Kyrgyzstan
Corruption and criminality in this country are extreme. I was victim of both. Police officers were shooting with their speedometer cars that were going too fast. Then, they were showing me that I was riding on speed that my small motorcycle cannot even reach! They were asking me extreme amounts of money as bribes. I was ignoring them and I was continuing my way. They knew that they are cheaters and they were not chasing me.
Criminality is mostly seen in the two largest cities of Kyrgyzstan. Someone without uniform in Osh, the second largest city, who was introduced to me as a police officer, wanted to take me in the police station in order to check me. He drove me by his car in a remote place and he robbed me. I saw the number plate of his car and the real police arrested him during just one night. I even got my money back. I had initially asked to see the police ID of that guy but that’s something that was refused to me even by the real police officers. So, in a similar situation you must take serious precautions and forget your good faith.
I covered 2,753 km. (1,711 miles) in 33 days in Kyrgyzstan.
