Why Not Cycles

Turkmenistan

The signs of the Soviet past are strong in Central Asia. The corruption of everyone who has some kind of power is too much in all those countries. The travellers, especially those who drive, face that corruption mainly on the police officers. Bureaucracy is extreme and very annoying too. All the visas for those countries have declared specific dates for the start and the end of their validity.

However, there are a lot of attractions in Central Asia. The “simple” people, especially the religious Muslims as usual, are very friendly. In addition, the area is full of beautiful and remote places.

I travelled only five days in Turkmenistan, because according to the law, if someone wants to travel in the country for a longer period, he must be accompanied by a government guide and pay an extreme amount of money, of course. I covered 863 km. (536 miles) there.

Turkmenistan

Here is my route in Turkmenistan and most of the places I visited.
