Why Not Cycles

Uzbekistan

According to the unwise law which is on power, every traveller must register every night in a hotel. He gets a piece of paper from there, which is usually checked at the border, during exiting from the country. So, hosting is illegal in Uzbekistan! I was travelling for a month in the country and I wasn’t even thinking to spend all those nights between four walls without enjoying camping. I wasn’t registered anywhere for half of the month. I chose to exit from the country through the less used border, where they were not usually dealing with foreigners and they didn’t know what to do. Happily, nobody asked me those pieces of paper. I have heard about other travellers who got over the problem too but I have heard also about a family which was asked to bring a document from their embassy which was assuring that the family had a camper and they were sleeping there and not in the houses of locals.

I covered 3,541 km. (2,200 miles) in 29 days in Uzbekistan.

Here is my route in Uzbekistan and most of the places I visited.
